I always had the suspicion that this was the first great, truly Williams trademark score. Thanks to this wonderful podcast series I've been able to confirm that. It's the first one that really gives space and time to JW's talent. No wonder it got the attention of young Spielberg!

There is a magical quality in the music of this film in both the composition and arrangements, that seems to indicate for the first time a new genius has entered the genre of film music. This was a film that I didn't see until long afterwards, but if I had, I might have become a fan earlier. It wasn't until I saw The Cowboys in 1972 that I recognized his brilliant talent.
