Let's start this journey through the career of film composer John Williams with his first-ever score for a feature-length film. The 1959 B-movie "Daddy-O" was not the blockbuster that Williams would have hoped to have to launch his career, but it contains some good music. Host Jeff Commings examines some of the music, including some moments that hint at the greatness to come almost a decade later.

The main theme for Daddy o sounds an awful lot like the main theme for the man with the golden arm by Elmer Bernstein.

PS I have no idea what the fesjqp name is! I thought I was logged in with my Google profile and assumed this post would show my Google name. I'm new to this podcast app and we'll be sure to correct that if I intend to make any further comment posts. Good luck!

Totally enjoying this and wish you so well on your extensive John Williams Journey. I've been a fan ever since first hearing Lost in Space in the late 60s and recording the music off the TV speaker, as so many of us did. I've spent most of the years in between collecting and obsessing over every score, Great and Small. So a project like you're embarking on is just catnip for me. Even though I feel like I could conduct each of these myself, LOL, it's going to be such a treat to listen to these in the sequence you create them and hear your POV on each score. My only respectful, constructive suggestion, is just a slight technical issue, no complaints about your content. I've noticed that the balance of your sound mix is a bit of a challenge to listen to. Basically, I feel your V.O. is a bit loud compared to the musical samples. I don't think this is just a case of the vintage stuff being old and mono and tinny, because even in your introductory chapter, the "famous" more recent music was a lot softer than the voice. The obvious issue (for me) is when I set the volume to something comfortable for your voice, I'm straining to hear the music. And when I set it for the music, and then you resume speaking, I jump out of my chair! :-) I know many podcasters do not pretend to be professional sound people, so, if solving it is a technical challenge, possibly consider just speaking a little more softly. Please know I'm only contributing this observation in the spirit of giving you (hopefully) much-desired feedback so that you can have the most success possible with this project. Good luck and I will be listening week in and week out!

Thanks for sharing. I'm a filmmaker and didn't know much biographical stuff. Keep it up
